Bank Holiday Weekend

We have all been blessed with a second bank holiday in August, so here’s some perfect ways to spend that time in the Nottinghamshire area!

The Foolhardy Folk festival is coming to the Nottingham Arboretum on 28th August. A family friendly event full of music, food and beautiful surroundings. As the name suggests, a variety of artists will be performing stripped back sets of beloved folk music. The event starts at 12pm and tickets are £27.50.

An exciting, and limited, opportunity is available at Wollaton hall. Titus the T-rex will be on display until 31st August. As well as being able to see the amazing structure yourself, the journey of excavation and rebuilding will be explained through interactive virtual media. This is definitely a must see if you’re in the Nottingham area this bank holiday. It runs daily from 11am – 3:30pm and tickets cost £8.75 – £13.

On Sunday 28th – Monday 29th August, the Notts classic car and motorcycle show will be at Thoresby Park. From 10am – 4pm, there will be a feast for car lovers as well as great food and retail stands. This is another lovely option for all the family.

To fit with the Nottingham heritage and history, the Robin Hood festival has returned to Sherwood Forest after 3 years away. The festival ends on 29th, so don’t miss out! There’s plenty to see from reenactments, music, magic, circus skills, the sherwood outlaws performance, as well as the beautiful Sherwood Forest itself. Entry is free but there is a £5 parking fee.

Last but certainly not least is the iconic Nottingham Beach. Due to not being anywhere near the sea, Nottingham hosts its own beach yearly, with sand, rides, food and swimming. This is by far the best family friendly event and is a perfect option for the bank holiday weekend. The beach is open until 4th September and entry is free, however the larger rides like the slip and slide will require a booked ticket in advance, which can be done online.

Alternatively if you want to host your own bank holiday special, we have plenty of great options from BBQs and Hog roasts in the sunshine, to grazing boards indoors with friends, the choice is yours. However you plan to spend the weekend, have a great bank holiday!
